Is this prayer service only for those who are experiencing infertility?
No! We welcome and encourage loved ones of those who are struggling with infertility as well as anyone who would like to pray for struggling couples to please attend the prayer service. You can never have too many people praying for those who are hurting.
I heard that couples struggling with infertility are invited to come to the front of the church for a blessing during the prayer service. Do I have to participate?
Absolutely not. A silent blessing from the priest is offered for anyone wishing to come forward toward the end of the prayer service. If this makes you uncomfortable, you are welcome to remain in your pew and continue praying silently.
My spouse is unable to attend the prayer service. Can I come alone?
Please do! Your spouse is not required to attend in order to receive prayers or the blessing.
Is this a Mass?
No, it is a prayer service that is celebrated like a Liturgy of the Word. There will be readings from Sacred Scripture, a reflection from the priest on the readings as they pertain to couples suffering from infertility, a testimony by a couple who has experienced infertility, music, and a blessing from the priest for those who desire it. There will be no communion offered.
I am part of an organization that serves couples struggling with infertility. Can I offer information about my organization to the couples who attend the prayer service?
Yes! We invite representatives from various organizations that serve couples struggling with infertility to be present at the reception immediately following the prayer service. If you believe you have relevant information or services for these couples or for more information, please contact shap@teachmehealme.com or call (512) 736-7334.
Do I need to be Catholic to attend the prayer service?
No, all are welcome to attend and pray for and with hurting couples and families.
