Music Director Scott Ewing and Our Lady’s traditional choir invite all to a Service of Nine Advent Lessons and Carols!
Lessons and Carols features alternating readings and songs and a few congregational hymns. The evening gives attendees a chance to focus their minds and spirits on the message of Advent, setting aside the secular hustle and bustle of the pre-Christmas season.
Lessons and Carols originated in England in the 19th century. The most popular iteration of Lessons and Carols takes place at King’s College, Cambridge, annually, and is broadcast all over the world. King’s College began presenting the service in 1918, making this year the 100th anniversary. Since then, Lessons and Carols services have become a beloved Advent tradition in many churches across Christian denominations.
