Please invite Family and Friends.The Marian Sisters had their beginnings in Spokane, Washington. Their religious community was in the midst of reorganization and the two founding sisters of our current Santa Rosa community found themselves in need of new Diocesan sponsorship. Bishop Robert Vasa heard of their need for new Diocesan sponsorship and invited the Sisters to Santa Rosa. In 2011 there were two Sisters, today there are 12, with 5 more ready to join in August of this year.
The Sisters’ charism or purpose is to communicate the beauty, goodness and truth of the Catholic Faith through works of joyful evangelization. The Marian Sisters currently teach at Cardinal Newman High School and St. Eugene Cathedral Grade School. One sister works at the Diocesan Catholic School Office, one with the Tribunal and another in the Development Office. At the Cathedral, the sisters serve as sacristans, sing for liturgies, fill the DRE position, teach Parish Faith Formation classes, conduct youth ministry activities and participate in the Confirmation and RCIA programs. They have also traveled to various parts of the Diocese to assist with Confirmation retreats, Diocesan Youth Ministry and summer Parish “Bible Camp” Programs.
