Join us for a 5-part Lenten series devoted to racial reconciliation with expert presenters. Sundays at 11:00am from February 18 to March 18.
The Basilica of Saint Mary is dedicated to the eradication of racism and seeks to become a community of racial reconciliation.
In 1993, Oshea Israel got into a fight with Laramium Byrd that ended with a gunshot that killed Laramium, the only child of Mary Johnson. Twelve years later, Mary went to the penitentiary to visit the man who murdered her son, and an unlikely friendship developed between the two, leading eventually to the founding of From Death to Life, an organization that supports mothers who have lost children to homicide, and that supports the practice of forgiveness. The two will share their story, and will send us forth to live as Christ would have us live, with tenderness and mercy.
