The Cincinnati Oratory of St. Philip Neri, through the parishes of Sacred Heart (Camp Washington, Cincinnati) and Old St. Mary’s (Over the Rhine, Cincinnati), is hosting a Sacred Music Retreat for liturgical musicians, ages 18+, in August 2018.
This retreat is centered around the liturgy and music associated with the Extraordinary Form, and will feature internationally recognized musicians to assist in developing musical growth, as well as one or more clerics to act in the capacity of a retreat master. The retreat will address the spirituality inherent in participating in a parish choir; the desire to seek the glory of God through music and to draw souls to Christ.
It will be held at the St. Anne Retreat Center in Melbourne, KY, with accommodations for up to 120 participants. The retreat will culminate in two pontifical Masses, one to be held at Old St. Mary’s on Saturday, August 11th, and the other for the 11:00 AM Mass at Sacred Heart on Sunday, August 12th. The retreat promises to be an event with profound spiritual and musical growth – perhaps even a “once in a lifetime” event.
Registration opens mid-March. The attendance fee includes four nights at the retreat center; all meals; a packet of sheet music for the retreat music along with access to a shared location for play-back files in advance; and all activities associated with the retreat. The cost will be $450 per person. Registrations will be done by a form submitted via mail to the parish office. The cap on registrations is 110.
