Fr. Alex Kratz, OFM was a soccer player and graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Answering the call to the Franciscan Order in 1992, he earned a Master of Divinity degree from the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and was ordained. Fr. Alex spent time in the Holy Land, which woke an interest in the Palestinian Christians and their plight in the Holy Land. After an assignment in 2003-2004 to learn better ways the Western Christians could assist Christians in the Holy Land, Fr. Alex was asked to lead pilgrimages, which awakened a love for the people, the land, and spiritual direction. Fr. Alex has served as associate pastor and weekend assistant at parishes in the Archdiocese, and as an Evangelization Coordinator in Office of Evangelization for the Archdiocese. He founded several friaries and currently lives at the newly founded St. Moses the Black Friary in Detroit. He is founder of Terra Sancta Pilgrimages and has been leading twice yearly trips to the Holy Lands since 2008.
