Health Ministry’s Bridge of Light: Human Trafficking to Human Triumph Ministry

SOLIDARITY WALK TO HONOR VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING
February 8th (Saturday), 7:00 PM, at St. Irenaeus Church, Cypress

Have you wondered what YOU, personally, could do to help in the fight? Do you want to do something but you’re just not sure where to start or what to do? Does it seem like the problem is so overwhelming and prevalent that one person really cannot make a difference? Well, that is just not so and YOU are the ONE that can make that difference.

February 8th (Saturday) is THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER AND AWARENESS AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING and THE FEAST DAY OF SAINT JOSEPHINE BAKHITA, patron saint of Human Trafficking victims.

In honor of these two occasions, we will be hosting Catholic Relief Services’ TURN ON THE LIGHT Solidarity Walk for Victims of Human Trafficking. We will:

 TURN ON THE LIGHT so victims hidden in plain sight will be seen.
 TURN ON THE LIGHT to the causes of human trafficking.
 TURN ON THE LIGHT in farms and factories where laborers are mistreated and trapped.
 TURN ON THE LIGHT in horrible settings where men, women and children are victims of labor and sex trafficking.
 TURN ON THE LIGHT so we understand that every purchase we make affects someone’s life.
 TURN ON THE LIGHT so survivors can begin the process of healing of body, mind and spirit.

If you’ve wondered what YOU can do, this is a perfect opportunity to join the fight in a small yet meaningful way with others who are wondering the same thing. We, your parish family, can join together as a sign of solidarity for all affected by this heinous crime and as a symbol of our dedication to eradicating this blight from our world.

CHRIST BE OUR LIGHT…SHINE IN OUR HEARTS, SHINE IN THE DARKNESS

All are invited to attend, participate and pray. Please note that although our Solidarity Walk Prayer Vigil will begin in the Church with Taize Prayer, it will proceed outside before entering the Parish Hall, where we will prepare letters to our Congressmen. Please dress warmly; it may be chilly.

“If I were to meet the slave-traders who kidnapped me and even those who tortured me, I would kneel and kiss their hands, for if that did not happen, I would not be a Christian and Religious today… The Lord has loved me so much: we must love everyone… we must be compassionate!”
