The Office of Justice and Peace of the Diocese of Lafayette will offer its annual Mass to remember loved ones who have experienced the pain and hurt of losing a loved one through a violent act.
Violence hits all communities, all income and age groups, and it also tests our faith. We have a responsibility to respond. Acadiana has had its share of violence, domestic abuse, serial killings, stabbings, and the list goes on. Please help us reach out to those individuals and families who have experienced the pain and hurt of losing a love one through a violent act. The Catholic community cannot ignore the moral and human costs of so much violence in our mist.
Join us at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Church on Sunday, April 29th at 2 p.m. Bishop Douglas Deshotel will be the celebrant.
Immediately following the Mass, everyone is invited to a reception in the Cathedral Center, where Survivors of Violence will have an opportunity to remember their loved one. They are encouraged to bring a tabletop photo of their loved one so that it can be displayed.
Also, at the reception The Family Tree, Information, Education and Counseling Center and the Healing House, a center for grieving children and their caregivers will be present to provide information on the services which they provide. These services may be of to use to the Survivors of Violence as well as members of their family.
Call the Office of Justice and Peace, 337-261-5545 for more information or to make a referral and we will extend a personal invitation.
