The Diocese of Lafayette is celebrating its 100th Anniversary! There will be many events throughout the year to commemorate the “Century of Love” and we invite you to celebrate with us!
Centennial Masses are being celebrated in each of the four Deaneries which comprise our Diocese. The 3rd Deanery Mass will be held in the West Deanery at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 6:30pm.
The West Deanery of the Diocese of Lafayette consists of all church parishes in the Acadia Civil Parish and the Vermilion Civil Parish. There are 30 church parishes in the West Deanery, and 11 mission chapels. The churches, including parishes and missions, are located in Abbeville, Church Point, Cow Island, Crowley, Delcambre, Duson, Erath, Evangeline, Gueydan, Henry, Iota, Kaplan, Leroy, Lyons Point, Maurice, Mermentau, Mire, Morse, Mowata, Rayne, Richard, Roberts Cove, Branch, Egan, Esther, Estherwood, Haire, Lewisburg, Midland, Pecan Island, Petit Mamou and Savoy. The geography of the West Deanery covers approximately 1,968 square miles and has a Catholic population estimated at 65,184 individuals.
All priests, deacons, religious and lay faithful are invited to attend.
