The vocation of Catholic womanhood can be fully realized only through prayer. Here eleven Catholic women leaders share the secrets of their interior life. They are mothers, wives, widows, single women and grandmothers. They consider themselves the most ordinary of Catholic women persevering to pray and serve in response to God’s calling. We could consider them modern day Esther’s, Anna’s, Magdalene’s, Elizabeth’s, and Mary’s—servants all.
This book features chapters by popular Catholic women, including: Johnnette Benkovic, Kathryn Jean Lopez, Marilyn Quirk, Dr. Mary Healy, Vicki Thorn, Kelly Wahlquist, Lisa Hendey, Dr. Ronda Chervin, Dr. Pia de Solenni, and Joan Lewis. With heartfelt transparency each writer shares a glimpse into her feminine heart revealing how prayer formed her. The Eucharist, Mary, Saints and the Rosary are integral to their prayer life as is the example of other women prayer models such as mothers and grandmothers.

About the Speakers:
Kathleen Beckman, L.H.S. (www.kathleenbeckman.com) is a Catholic evangelist, best selling author, and Ignatian certified retreat director. Kathleen is the President of Foundation of Prayer for Priests (www.foundationforpriests.org), a global apostolate of prayer and catechesis for the sanctity of clergy and vocations. A writer for www.catholicexchange.com, she is published in several Catholic journals. Sophia Institute Press published her last three books: “When Women Pray: Eleven Catholic Women on the Power of Prayer” (2017), “God’s Healing Mercy: Finding Your Path to Forgiveness, Peace and Joy (2015)” and “Praying for Priests: A Mission for the New Evangelization” (2014). Often featured on Catholic TV and radio such as EWTN, Catholic Channel, Shalom and Focus, she assists clergy in the Church’s ministry of healing, deliverance and exorcism. She and her husband are business owners with two adult sons, one daughter in law and one grandchild. She enjoys missionary work, prayer, evangelization, reading, writing, and cooking. Her favorite places to travel are Rome, Italy and Napa, CA. Her favorite saints are St. John Paul II and St. Catherine of Siena.
Kathryn Jean Lopez is the former editor and current editor-at-large of the widely read and cited daily webzine, National Review Online, where she has written and edited for more than a decade. She is also a Senior Fellow at the National Review Institute. An award-winning opinion journalist who has been praised for her “editorial daring,” Lopez is also a nationally syndicated columnist with United Media’s Newspaper Enterprise Association. Lopez’s work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, New York Post, The Human Life Review, First Things, and Stars and Stripes, and on the websites of the New York Times, CNN, and other international publications. She writes frequently for a variety of Catholic publications, including Our Sunday Visitor, and is a columnist for The National Catholic Register and the Knights of Columbus’s Headline Bistro. Lopez’s work has been referenced widely, and has even been cited in the pages of Playboy (they were not fans). She has been recognized by Feminists for Life and Manhattan’s Midtown Pregnancy Support Center for her culture-of-life commentary and reporting. Lopez is a frequent guest on national and international radio and television programs, from PBS and CNN to EWTN and Vatican Radio. She has been a guest host on William J. Bennett’s nationally syndicated morning show. In 2002, Lopez and National Review Online were awarded the Center for Military Readiness Spotlight Award for national-defense coverage. Commonly known as “K-Lo” on the Internet, on talk radio, and around Washington, Lopez speaks frequently on faith and public life, the dignity of human life, and feminism, among other topics. She has addressed audiences at events sponsored by Legatus, the Knights of Columbus, the American Political Science Association, the Heritage Foundation, the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars, the Milken Institute, Lincoln Center, and the National Press Club, and has spoken on the campuses of Harvard, Yale, the Franciscan University of Steubenville, and Ave Maria University. Lopez is a graduate of the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where she studied philosophy and politics. She has been a fellow at the Claremont Institute and serves on the Archdiocese of New York’s Pro-Life Commission.
